Here
again we find that the link is more than just anchor to an
event. The real name of The Mucky Ducks was 'The Sea Eagles'
and they certainly did come from far away flying on the wings
of a great adventure. Stories they had by the score, yet they
usually kept very silent. The song 'Eagle' could have been written to describe The Ducks, it would be very hard not to see this strong, positive link. The only actual reference made was by Sylvia.

FROM
SYLVIA'S SUMMARY
One thing they did get wrong. They should have kept the name of 'Sea Eagles'
as they did soar - higher and further than their namesake.
I can but barely conceive their world. I know it was vast
and they needed to be big people to inhabit it. But it was
also very unreal and dark and I think they lived there too
long.
I am still not
sure what the moral of this story is. Perhaps Hendrick came
closest when he said.
"If I had to describe what this book is about I think
I would say that, when all is said and done, it's a warning.
Be very careful how you approach life and never take anything
for granted, nothing is permanent. To use Harry's words:
'Happiness only ever borrowed - never owned'. So don't take
the good times as set in stone and always be ready and prepared
for life's inevitable punches".
Yes, I think that about sums it up.
